3 Stars - An engaging western romance perfect for friends to lovers fans. Lachlan and Charity have a solid friendship and just as strong tension between them. They care so deeply about each other and just click. It's easy to root for them from the start. I think my biggest issue here was weirdly enough their ages. If this was set in their early twenties, teenage friends wanting more now, it would've worked much better. As it is, they're sort of hard to understand and frustrating. Lachlan and Charity seem patient with each other, until they're just not? Charity's been very sheltered and just lost her father, supposedly the life change that sets them in motion. Lachlan is looking at his brothers and thinking it's time for settling down. But their insistence on not taking their relationship to the next level then doing a complete switch on that, then fighting about it... didn't make sense to me. Nothing stood in the way of these two being together except themselves.
