4 Stars - An improvement by far on Armored, the first Josh Duffy thriller. Reading book one isn't really necessary. Josh and his family become tangled up in an African coup and with one dark man from his past. The stakes are extremely high in this one and I felt it on every page. There were a few spots that dragged or had a bit of an info dump, but overall it moved at an exceptionally fast and entertaining pace. Duffy is an easy hero to like. He's not exactly superman but he is capable of some really impressive things. Of course many will say how unrealistic his combat abilities are or that much of the plot relied on luck, but it's an action thriller and nothing out of the realm of possibility here. The settings felt vivid and real as well as the tension. Duffy has a lot of solid supporting characters and truly devious bad guys to round out the story. Great for thriller readers who don't mind a shootout or two and looking for something a little different.
