BCPL Resume Tip #46

Welcome back to another mini resume class! We're excited to share another quick tip that may set your resume apart from the rest of the pile.

Resume Tip #46 - Be Positive

Sounding positive about your experiences and expectations is a small way that you can possibly set yourself apart as the best candidate. Potential employers deal with a lot of daily issues and hear plenty of grumbling from their current employees. A new team member who brings a fresh and optimistic attitude is always appealing.

Avoid phrases in your previous or current job descriptions like "forced to" or "got stuck with" obviously, but you can also eliminate subtle phrasing that might sound negative. Use words like "assisted" and "helped" that show you can be a team player, and you don't mind lending a hand. Add words like "completed", "accomplished", and "ensured" when talking about duties and projects when you can. You want to show you can see things through.

Remember all employers are not just looking for someone who can do the job, they want someone who can also do it well. And confidence and on your part caring can go a long way to securing you a new job.
