Welcome back, job seekers and resume writers! Whether you're actively job hunting or just updating the old CV to keep it clean, we've got another helpful tip to consider.
Resume Tip #44 - Use Lists
Maybe you do not have a long work history or have some gaps you're hoping to make less noticable. We always advise to have your resume a complete one-pager, and lists can help!
Many resume templates will give you bullet point sections, and this is a great way to fill empty space while staying structured and organized. After all, your resume really is a list of your accomplishments and previous job duties and responsibilities.
The most obvious option would be to take each job position and bullet point your tasks, such as below...
Clyde's Kitchen
Chef - March 2020 to present
Prepared kitchen for daily orders by stocking and completing basic food prep.
Cleaned kitchen surfaces and coolers through out the day to maintain sterile space.
Cooked a variety of dishes from poultry to pasta and more as ordered.
Maintained strong levels of customer satisfaction with quick and quality meals.
Operated stove, ovens, fryers, grills, and all other appliances efficiently.
Trained and supervised new employees as needed.
Cleaned kitchen and restocked at end of shift to keep operations smooth.
See! A list is a great way to break down either your job duties, educational achievements, skills, technology mastered, devices certified on, or required or recommended training courses completed. Your future employer will appreciate the clear and concise at-a-glance manner of reading the information.
We hope you found this month's tip helpful and we'll return in September with another one! Until then, remember your local library is a great place to work on your job search.
