Ready to sink into a delicious dinner and read? We always are! This month we're making chicken and noodles from Joanne Fluke's mystery Banana Cream Pie Murder, featuring beloved series character Hannah Swensen.

Let's get started!

Ingredients

Recipe is for 5 quart slow-cooker

1 medium onion, diced

1 8 oz can of mushroom stems and pieces, drained

½ tsp garlic salt

½ tsp onion salt

½ tsp regular salt

¼ tsp ground black pepper

1 10.5 oz can of condensed cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)

1 10.5 oz can of condensed cream of celery soup (undiluted)

1 dry Ranch Dressing Mix packet

8 oz package of cream cheese

1 cup sour cream

Buttery noodles of your choice

3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken half-breasts (9-10 pieces)

Instructions

1. Spray slow cooker with Pam or nonstick spray.

2. Place diced onion in the bottom of the crockpot.

3. Arrange chicken on top of the onion.

4. Plug in the crockpot, turn it on low heat and let it cook 5-6 hours.

5. When the chicken is fork tender, turn off the heat and remove the crock.

6. Allow to cool in the crock.

7. Remove the chicken breasts one by one and place them on the platter.

8. Set a large strainer in a bowl and separate the liquid and onions. Save both.

9. Return the onions to the crock.

10. Dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

11. Open mushroom stems can and add it to the onions in the crockpot.

12. Return the chicken to the crockpot.

13. Sprinkle with garlic salt, onion salt, regular salt, and black pepper to taste.

14. Open the cans of cream of mushroom & celery soup. Add to the crockpot.

15. Sprinkle in the dry Ranch mix.

16. Stir.

17. Turn the low heat on the cooker and simmer for 30 minutes or longer.

18. Pour over noodles. Stir in the saved cooking broth as needed. Add sour cream before serving.
