In the mood for an indulgent dessert and story? We're ready with another recipe this February! We're making Molasses Cake from The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom.
Ingredients-
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 cup molasses
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
2 dashes of ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions-
Preheat oven to 350F.
Grease an 8 inch square baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
Beat in the egg.
In a separate bowl, combine the milk and the molasses.
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
Add each of these alternatively to the butter mixture, beating well between additions.
Spoon batter into the prepped pan.
Bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Doesn't that sound delicious and sweet?
